Forever Families

One of the greatest crises in our world today is that there are so many hurting children who have no parents to care for them.  Forever Families is the First Frisco UMC’s outreach to orphans and to foster and adoptive families.foreverfamilies.jpg

God is going to continue to call ALL of us to take steps of faith to help children in need.  More families at First Frisco will be called to adopt internationally or domestically.  Some will be called to foster.  Many will be called to sponsor a child through Compassion International or another organization.  Some will be called to serve as advocates for abused children through CASA of Collin County.  Some will be called to get involved with supporting orphans internationally through ZOE Ministries, Malayaka House or HIS Little Feet Choir.  Forever Families is going to keep these needs and opportunities in front of our church family.

Buckner International transforms the lives of vulnerable children, enriches the lives of senior adults, and builds strong families through Christ-centered values. First Frisco partners with Buckner for special events and training opportunities.
Thank you from Buckner International:
"First Frisco, we at Buckner just want to thank you on behalf of our foster care and adoption team for supporting our ministry the past three years. We wanted to let you know your ministry has been a blessing to Buckner, foster and adoptive families, and many children.
Thanks to the Forever Family ministry we have been able to train 21 families, including foster, adoptive, and kinship families. We have been able to place 5 children (sibling group of 3 and a sibling group of 2) in permanent homes. Additionally, 4 children have been able to have a safe and loving home while away from their family. We are still working on licensing eight more families, but we are expectantly waiting to see what God has in storage for the children who will be blessed through these families.
Once again, thank you for allowing us to bring this training closer to our families. We have been tremendously blessed by this partnership. We will be in close contact with you in the following months to discuss tentative dates for the upcoming year."

Zoe Working Group in Kenyazoe-group-resized-2.png

Your faithful gifts empowered our Missions Team to make the commitment to support a ZOE working group for the next three years. Through ZOE’s empowerment program, children living in extreme poverty situations are given education, tools, and training in order to care for themselves and their families.
The 138 children in our group in Kenya have been meeting since July and now know that their future has great potential. They have also learned that they have our church family providing the resources and prayers needed for them to be successful.

HeartGift Foundation is a nonprofit organization that brings children from around the world for free surgery to correct life-threatening congenital heart defects. Established in 2000, HeartGift began its work in Austin, Texas and now has chapters in multiple cities. Since its founding, HeartGift has treated more than 200 children from over 30 countries.

Nearly one out of 100 children is affected by a congenital heart defect. Many children in developing nations are never diagnosed, never undergo life-saving surgery, and will not survive to see their first birthday. The children that HeartGift sponsors come for surgery because their home countries lack adequate health care. They leave with repaired hearts and a new sense of hope for the future.

First Frisco has sponsored many HeartGift recipients.  Locally HeartGift Dallas combines with the Children’s Heart Project and Samaritan’s Purse to provide overseas transportation, hospital stays and pediatric heart surgeons.  First Frisco provides a host family to provide housing for the child, parent and interpreter.  Meals are provided through signing up on the Care Calendar and volunteers provide transportation to doctor visits and the hospital.  Volunteers also help entertain the child during their recovery through entertaining excursions and meals out.

Meet our HeartGift recipients…
