Forever Families

One of the greatest crises in our world today is that there are so many hurting children who have no parents to care for them.  Forever Families is the First Frisco UMC’s outreach to orphans and to foster and adoptive families.foreverfamilies.jpg

God is going to continue to call ALL of us to take steps of faith to help children in need.  More families at First Frisco will be called to adopt internationally or domestically.  Some will be called to foster.  Many will be called to sponsor a child through Compassion International or another organization.  Some will be called to serve as advocates for abused children through CASA of Collin County.  Some will be called to get involved with supporting orphans internationally through ZOE Ministries, Malayaka House or HIS Little Feet Choir.  Forever Families is going to keep these needs and opportunities in front of our church family.

Listening Lunch Hosted by Forever Families

Where: The Chapel (one story red brick building)
Forever Families will host its firstListening Lunch on Feb. 5th at noon in the Chapel. Come hear orphan advocate/foster-adoptive mom/Jesus lover Sandy Spengler share about her amazing journey of mother-love. Ask questions. See what God's up to on behalf of vulnerable children through First Frisco. Be blessed!

Sandy Spengler, Regional Director - Lifesong for Orphans, is a disciple of Christ who has messed up so many times she can't believe God continues to call her to Himself. She loves her family, her puppies, and laughing her head off. She worked for over 10 years on church staff, was a missionary in Africa, is an adoptive mom, a foster mom and currently works with Lifesong for Orphans advocating for the orphaned and vulnerable all around the globe.

HeartGift Foundation is a nonprofit organization that brings children from around the world for free surgery to correct life-threatening congenital heart defects. Established in 2000, HeartGift began its work in Austin, Texas and now has chapters in multiple cities. Since its founding, HeartGift has treated more than 200 children from over 30 countries.

Nearly one out of 100 children is affected by a congenital heart defect. Many children in developing nations are never diagnosed, never undergo life-saving surgery, and will not survive to see their first birthday. The children that HeartGift sponsors come for surgery because their home countries lack adequate health care. They leave with repaired hearts and a new sense of hope for the future.

First Frisco has sponsored many HeartGift recipients.  Locally HeartGift Dallas combines with the Children’s Heart Project and Samaritan’s Purse to provide overseas transportation, hospital stays and pediatric heart surgeons.  First Frisco provides a host family to provide housing for the child, parent and interpreter.  Meals are provided through signing up on the Care Calendar and volunteers provide transportation to doctor visits and the hospital.  Volunteers also help entertain the child during their recovery through entertaining excursions and meals out.

Meet our HeartGift recipients…
