Due in large part to our Western mind-set, we tend to assume that God won't work supernaturally in our lives.  Sure, the Spirit did some crazy things in the book of Acts, but He doesn't work that way anymore.  Or does He?  One thing is certain: We will never know the power of the Spirit until we open our lives to follow His leading.

Without the supernatural power of God in our lives, we remain incredibly ordinary.  Our churches remain ordinary.  At times we will attempt big things for God, but we don't expect anything supernatural.  Our natural tendency is to work in our own strength rather than relying on the Holy Spirit, and the results are not surprising.

What comes out of our mouths is often a reflection of what we are feeding our eyes and ears.  What is your heart meditation on?  In this class we will watch 30 minute segments of a movie and discuss the Christian perspective based on scriptural application.  Our focus will be to sharpen our discernment skills in what the secular world presents through films.  Some movies are 'Christian Movies' and some are pure 'Hollywood'.  Some are pure fiction and some are 'based on true stories'.  NO HOMEWORK and we will have prayer time.  However, you may be presented with a movie based 'challenge'.  Ages 18+

We will explore the use of protestant prayer beads as a tool for use in our prayer lives.  The first week will be an introduction and history of prayer beads as well as each of us making our own set of prayer beads (already made sets will be available for those who do not want to make one).  The next four weeks we will discuss and practice using prayer beads for prayers of Praise, Confession, Intercession and Thanksgiving.  Our time of devotion will help us focus on the words we offer to God while a time of meditation will help us listen to what God has to say to us.
