CareCalendar - Crisis Meals and New Parent Meals

At First Church, we are there for one another during times of joy and sorrow.  Sometimes when families are experiencing difficulty or stress, it's hard for us to know exactly how to help -- but we want to!  In addition to prayer, we are called to take care of families in need.  One way we can lovingly do this is by preparing a meal -- whether it be a new mom adjusting to life at home with her new baby, or a church member dealing with a hospital stay or recovery.  In our efforts to make this simple and easy for you, we are using CareCalendar to sign up for those meals.

Here's how it works:  To access Crisis Meal/New Parent Meal's CareCalendar site, visit http://www.carecalendar.org/logon/59581 (or click on the logo above) and enter "FUMC" as the security code.  Click on a church member's name that is displayed in red -- this is a family in need of a meal.  Those names displayed in green have already had their need fulfilled.

All the logistical information you need, including address, number of people eating, food preferences or allergies are available.  Simply sign up for a meal and deliver it at the appropriate time.

Please check our CareCalendar often -- weekly is suggested.  Feel free to share the information with you Sunday School class or friends in your Bible study.  These meals may seem like simple things, but to the receiver they can mean the world!

Please remember to check our care calendar often!

Stephen Ministry

What is Stephen Ministry?

Frisco FUMC's Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

A Stephen Minister is ...

  • A congregation member with gifts for caregiving who was selected to serve in this role
  • A lay person who has received 50 hours of training in providing emotional and spiritual care
  • A caring, Christian friend who listens, cares, prays, supports, and encourages
  • Someone who will "be there" for their care receiver, meeting faithfully for an hour each week, for as long as there's a need

Stephen Ministers care for people facing tough times:

Stephen Ministers are ready to provide the emotional and spiritual care you need when faced with a crisis of difficulty such as:

  • Loss of a loved one
  • Hospitalization
  • Divorce or separation
  • Unemployment or a job crisis
  • A terminal illness
  • Aging
  • Birth, adoption, or miscarriage
  • Relocation
  • Recovery after an accident
  • And many more

Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry. The identity of those receiving care and what takes place in each caring relationship remain private.

Prayer Blanket Ministry

As you look around the Gathering Area on Sunday mornings, you see several blankets that have been requested for an individual who is facing a serious illness or personal crisis in their life. Prayers may be offered at any time, before or after Worship Services or any other time you are in the building. Please take a moment to stand in front of the blanket, say a prayer and then tie a knot in one of the strands. Each knot represents a prayer for the person. When all strands have been knotted, the blanket is given to the person. Forms to request a prayer blanket can be found in the church office, at the Welcome Center, or on this website under "Forms".
