Our focus is to help women and children in need, locally, nationally, and globally; and to grow spiritually.
"The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church."
"Why I Love United Methodist Women!" from Bishop Peggy Johnson
All women of the church, both visitors and members, are invited to join one of the circles. There are five circles which meet at different times. The Circles are:
The Mary Martha Circle meets in Room 1 of the Ministries Building on the second Thursday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. After a devotional study from The Women's Devotional Guide to the Bible by Jean E. Syswerda, members complete a service/craft project lead by one of the members. Each member pays $5 per month to cover the cost of craft supplies. Craft/service items are chosen for use by the church. Examples from last year include aprons for the church kitchens, cross magnets for evangelism bags, and holiday themed gifts for retirement homes. For more information, please contact Andi Case at 972-624-1011.
The Ruth Circle usually meets the third Sunday of each month at 12:15 pm in the Administration Office Conference Room. The group enjoys a potluck lunch, fellowship, and a discussion about a book of study. The Ruth Circle also plans a few fundraisers and other events to support our objectives: to help women and children in need, locally, nationally, and globally; and to grow spiritually. We have organized several events; the Annual Cookie Walk, Church Cookbook and Sales, Dallas Bethlehem Angel Tree collection, and in the coming year we want to grow by helping to promote mission education through the School of Christian Mission (yearly event planned by the North Texas Conference UMW). The third week in July is typically when the weekday school is scheduled and the Weekend Cooperative Mission Event is usually that following weekend in Sherman, Texas. The Marion Thompson Sisters of Faith Circle meets the fourth Monday of each month at 9:30 a.m. (with the exceptions that may conflict with the local school calendar) to study and enjoy a deep fellowship. Our main activity during the meetings is to discuss a biblical book and its scriptural significance to our daily lives. Our members of all ages bring a rich perspective to life's lessons and a wonderful wisdom is gained in every meeting. The Sisters Circle also serves the local community through a partnership with Frisco Family Services to be available to serve in any way. We welcome any woman who is interested in fun and meaningful fellowship, prayer support, and a desire to be of service. We can't wait for you to join us!
The Silver Sombreros Sisters Circle is open to single ladies fifty-five years old and older. The circle meets the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. usually in the home of a circle member. The purpose of the SSS Circle is for fellowship, spiritual growth and to plan social and service projects. The Silver Sombrero Sisters main project is making applebutter. Proceeds from this project have been used to buy kneeling cushions for the communion altar, Bibles for the sanctuary, and a donation to the benevolence fund. The Silver Sombrero Sisters also host the annual Ladies Christmas Candlelight Program the second Tuesday in December.
The Hannah Circle meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Gathering Area for the purpose of building strong bonds with each other, within the church and out in the community. At each monthly meeting the circle explores a devotional topic from the Women of Faith series and works together on planned mission based activities.
