Doug Miller, Senior Pastor

doug@friscofumc.org

William Douglas Miller (Doug) assumed the duties of Senior Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Frisco in June 2004. Doug is a native of North Texas, graduated from Farmersville High School in 1970. He received a BS degree in Psychology with a minor in General Business from East Texas State University in 1980 and received his Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky in 1984. He was ordained an elder in 1986. Before entering the ministry in 1978, Doug worked for the United States Postal Service for almost eight years. Doug is an avid outdoorsman with his favorite hobbies being golf and hunting quail.

While finishing college and seminary, Doug served student appointments in Callisburg and Ector from 1978-1980. In Kentucky, he served Dunaway United Methodist Church in Winchester, Kentucky. After graduating from Asbury Theological Seminary, he returned to Texas where he served as associate pastor for 18 months at Waples United Methodist Church in Denison. In 1986, he was appointed to First United Methodist Church in Celina. After 5 ½ years in Celina, he moved to First United Methodist Church in Bonham as senior pastor. At Bonham, he completed a $500,000 building project which added a 15,000 square foot Family Life Center that was debt-free upon completion. The congregation also constructed a new parsonage. In 1996, Doug moved to First United Methodist church in Paris, Texas. During 8 years of ministry there, surrounding properties were purchased, a children’s ministry building was constructed, and the existing historic building was remodeled and updated.

Doug has served on various District and Conference Committees. As chair of the Paris-Sulphur Spring District Task Force on Russian Initiative, he led the district in a mission to provide the annual support for a pastor and congregation funding. Lacking a church home, the District purchased part of a building for the new congregation for $37,000. Doug also served as a member and chair of several District Committee Boards of Ordained Ministry.  He served the conference on the Commission on Insurance, the Board of Church and Society, the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, and the Council on Finance and Administration as chair.

Doug has been married to Sally Ann for over 40 years. Sally has taught in public schools for 32 years and recently retired from Frisco Independent School District. They have two grown daughters, Sarah Herron and husband Chad, who live in Little Elm, and Rachel Ann, who lives in Tyler, Texas.  Sarah and Chad are the parents of grandson Miller Matthew Herron.

Doug has always enjoyed challenges in life. Helping churches and individuals transition from where they are to where God is calling them to be is “my greatest passion and brings a great sense of joy to my life."

FUMCStaff_Jason-1

Jason McConnell, Associate Pastor

jason@friscofumc.org

Jason began serving as associate pastor in July 2011 in the ministries of Connections and Christian growth. Jason grew up in Richardson, TX and left the Dallas area to attend Texas Tech University where he earned his BA and MBA in business. He returned to the Dallas area where he took a position with a large business consulting firm. Over the years, Jason had begun to discern a calling in his life to draw closer to the church (both as a place of refuge and connection and as a place of service and employment). Jason began this transition by taking a part-time position at a smaller firm and a part-time position with a new-church-start in the McKinney area. As the ministry of that church continued, and Jason’s duties came to include more ministry opportunities than “business of the church” opportunities, Jason realized that his calling was not just with the logistics and the statistics of the church but in the life of the church, serving full-time in ministry. He continued with this church on a full-time basis before being asked to pastor a small church just outside McKinney.

He remained appointed to First United Methodist Church in Princeton, TX for 5 exciting years. During this time, Jason started as a graduate student at Perkins School of Theology, SMU in pursuit of a Masters of Divinity. Jason graduated from Perkins in May 2012 and in June was commissioned as a provisional elder on the ordination track.

Jason has an amazing family and support team through all these seasons in life and those still to come. He is thankfully (and humbly) married to JeanAnn, his college sweetheart. They have three young children who fill their lives with chaos and blessings, while threatening their levels of sanity and all the while reminding them of God’s amazing grace!

Prior to answering God’s call to ministry, Cathy worked in the legal field for over 30 years in areas of training, human resources and office management.  Cathy and her husband Brad have two sons, Mitch Murray and Lance Partridge.   Cathy and Brad are both very active people, and especially enjoy spending their time together and with friends and family.

Bill Meek, Associate Pastor

bill@friscofumc.org

Bill Meek assumed the position of quarter time associate pastor at FUMC Frisco in June of 2007. He is responsible mainly for older adult care and pastoral visitation. Bill grew up in Ponca City, Oklahoma, graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in psychology from Oklahoma State University, 1972, and a Masters of Divinity from Austin Presbyterian Seminary in 1975. He obtained eight months of Clinical Pastoral Education in Chaplaincy at Ben Taub Hospital from 1975-1976.

Bill is happily married to Cessie. They have raised five children: Ben, Sara, Katie, Becca, and Marde. Bill and Cessie have over the years been actively involved in community theatre, with Bill normally on stage, with Cessie managing back stage. In addition, Bill is an avid sportsman, having "grown up" on the tennis court.

Over the last seventeen years, he has been employed at Princeton ISD as technology director, having served as computer science, math, speech teacher for six years at the Law Magnet High School with Dallas ISD. Bill looks forward to retiring from his school duties in the next few years so he can devote full time effort to his calling to ministry.

Jesseca is new to the staff as of May 2013, serving as the director of Spoken Culture, the young adults ministry.

She grew up in the suburbs of Dallas and has been involved in many different denominational churches. Jesseca came to understand the grace of the Gospel when she was 18 and the next thing she knew she was at a Bible college studying pastoral ministry. Jesseca earned a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Criswell College and will be pursuing her masters in the spring as she feels she just scratched the surface of knowing who her Creator is. She is an avid lover of Justin Timberlake, Pixar, and you can win her over with chocolate, as she has a big sweet tooth. Jesseca’s passion is to teach from Scripture and to serve others in love and so she is so excited to have the opportunity to join in this life journey with other young adults of FUMC to explore the faith and experience living life completely for Christ.

FUMCStaff_Troy-1

Troy Doucet, Director of Student Ministries

youth@friscofumc.org

Troy has just joined our staff in August 2012 serving as Director of Student Ministries.  Troy has over 13 years of experience in leading students - from the bayous of South Louisiana, to the beach communities of Southern California, and the concrete jungles of North Dallas.  Educationally, Troy has a bachelor's degree in religious studies from Liberty University, a double-masters degree in Theology and Philosophy from Criswell College, and is almost done with his doctorate in Philosophy and Culture from the University of Texas at Dallas.  Troy and his family have called Frisco home since 2002- although he loves to go back to his 'first' home to indulge in Cajun delicacies like boudin, cracklins, etoufee, and gumbo.

When Troy is not hanging out with students he can be found out and about with his beautiful wife Michelle, and his three awesome kids: Azlyn (6), Asher (4), and Adelaide (2).  Troy enjoys reading voraciously, writing profusely, and trying to stay in shape occasionally (he's getting pretty old).  He also loves tacos, BBQ, and of course a good old fashion Louisiana crawfish boil!!

Troy is excited (or as he says 'stoked') to be a part of the Frisco FUMC Family, and can be reached anytime to assist or serve your family.
