Pastor Sandi Minor to travel to Kenya February 10-24th, 2010

Pastor Sandi Minor will travel to Nakura, Kenya February 10th - 24th. She will be traveling with the group: Kenya-Partners.

They will be taking resources to our neighbors on the other side of the world providing medical care, assistance with feeding programs and educational activities with children. We will take them the hope of a brighter future..to make sure the poorest of the poor can eat and have the opportunity to learn. Pastor Sandi's assignment will be at the dental clinic in triage where she will gather not only medical information for the doctors but also information about the spiritual, emotional and mental well-being of the patient. Christ is concerned about the whole person and we represent Christ.

Please pray for the team and all teams on missionary trips in other countries. Several scriptures are available if you want to pray daily for us. You may also refer to

First Frisco awarded certification as "Welcoming Congregation"

"Welcoming Congregations" are a select group of United Methdoist congregations nationwide that meets criteria including embracing newcomers and providing opportunities in discipleship. The recognition program is a part of a larger effort launced in late 2000 by UMCom., the denomination's communications agency, to use modern technology and the common language of television to spread the Good News of Christ to a world in need.

For the past 8 years, "Open hearts, Open minds, Open doors" has been the theme of the denomination supported with a series of national cable TV advertising, supplemented by regional and local church participation. The overall aim of the effort is to invite people, to enter into connection with the Christian community as they seek meaning and purpose in their lives. The new campaign, Rethink Church, seeks to capitalize on the previous campaign, targeting 18-34 year olds and inviting churches to think of the motto as a verb, not just an adjective as in: "Together we can. Open hearts, Open minds, and Open doors".

Hospitality Opportunity Available

Are you interested in evangelism but don't want to go door to door? We have a place for you right here at church. It's as simple as being a friendly face, opening a door, or helping someone find a Sunday School class. We are in need of greeters each Sunday to be the friendly face that each person sees when they enter our church. If interested, please call the church office.

New Hymnals

We need new hymnals for our Sanctuary. Have you ever wanted to sing harmony to the hymns we sing on Sunday mornings and couldn't find a hymnal in the pew or on the screen? Let's donate for the purchase of hymnals and fill our pews with this wonderful worship aid. Hymnals can be purchased in memory or honor of persons you wish to memorialize. A book plate will be placed in front of the hymnal. Order forms are located at the Welcome Center or in the church office.

Prayer Blanket Ministry
As you look around the Gathering Area on Sunday mornings, you see several blankets that have been requested by individuals or for an individual who is facing a serious illness or personal crisis in their life. Prayers may be offered at any time, before or after Worship Services or any other time you are in the building. Please take a moment to stand in front of the blanket, say a prayer and then tie a knot in one of the strands. Each knot represents a prayer for the person. When all strands have been knotted, the blanket is given to the person. Forms to request a prayer blanket can be found in the church office, at the Welcome Center, or on this website under "Forms".

Adult Sunday School Offerings
Adult Sunday school has always been an important part of the life and ministry of First United Methodist, and it continues to be so. We currently have eight active classes that meet during the 9:30 hour on Sunday mornings. We invite you to come and try any of these classes at any time. Come make a difference in our church by allowing Sunday school to make a difference in you. We look forward to seeing you!
